There's just so much anger reading this portion of the book. Her politician lover did not acknowledge her though she wanted very much to be at his side when he's in a critical condition. The way her husband shuts her down and ridicules her ambition, how she's trying to keep even a wee bit of sanity within her by just keeping quiet. The fact that her parents didn't stick up for her even tho she called them many times.
