it is interesting to see how the book narratest the human evolution of its society. The children have made up an authority and more than solving the problems at hand, it has come to deal with the organisational sorting of who has the ultimate authority. I thought the children would do better than the grown ups regarding this. Does this mean we are eternally doomed with our own intellect?

The backgroud has been set right by the author. War torn world, children lost in an Island. There is nothing for these children to go back to. Now its time to figure out, how to survive all alone with a hope that starts as a daydream that "Every thing will be alright, our parents will find us soon and we will be back home safe", reflecting the state of human condition when faced with challenges.
