I'm not sure yet how I feel about the writing and the progression of the story. I'm having a hard time understanding shifts in periods of time, Peter Lake's age, etc. Not to mention, at times the author has beautifully crafted descriptive passages and then counters with a more remedial writing style that suggests even he doesn't take himself seriously.
