Strange error; a £1000 sum is mentioned as compensation payment for a servant girl's expenses. This is an astonishing sum, 1/10 of Pemberly's annual income, half of Longbourn's income, and considerably more than a rector's income at the time (aprox £600 per year). For reference, a governess' salary would have been about £50-60 per year.
