Wow! The influence of The Flame and the Flower is apparent. Not a complaint, because I love that book. Interested to see how this one diverges. Christy is definitely less timid than Heather, but so far Michael reminds me a lot of Brandon. Will have to post some comparative quotes later.

Putting this on hold while I determine if new indy author Olivia Wheeler does indeed write bodice rippers as she claims. Besides, my head cold is making me cranky and all the similarities to KEWs Flame and the Flower have me feeling like Im reading fan fiction. Fan fiction is cool as long as you do it for free, but this was published. Hopefully will feel more objective soon.

Still trying to figure out the captain. Is he a gentleman who happens to be a merchant seaman or is he more of the pirate sort. I'm leaning toward the former, because he'd never make it as a pirate on Stars network's Black Sails. Chick definitely wouldn't still be a virgin living in a closet instead of in the captain's room being debauched ten ways to Sunday.
