More of a 4.5 star book, but damn did I enjoy my day with this sensitive, gentle novel. It has HEART. So, full five stars. And oh look! Because I love the emotion and watercolor softness that perfectly captures this book, when I went to check out the cover artist--surprise, surprise--it's by Appavu. Seriously, that artist is GOLDEN. Thank you for the beautiful novel, Tia!

I'm rolling my eyes at how... peachy every one gets along, including exs, but I'm also sorta... squeeing secretly.

The unhealthy desire (unresolved issues/self-punishment/etc.) for pain versus the healthy BDSM release/grounding type is dealt with very well here. Reminds me of the psychology behind the MC in Lyn Gala's Fettered.

If only Sacher-Masoch had been as enlightened as this chap, he might not have clusterfucked Wanda: "Did you feel guilty for needing the pain?” Scott closed his eyes.... "Yes. Because I was taking Heather’s free time. I was having her do... things she didn’t want to do.” “But she wanted to, didn’t she?” Milo cut in. “...in the beginning, but towards the end it got… it was bad for her sometimes."

I was wondering if Scott's past was going to be left hanging, but I needn't have worried! Competent writing!

ZAP! Playing with my plugged I toaster again! At over 90%, I'm suddenly back in Scott's perspective? But yanno, it's... surprisingly okay. The author has chosen good "closure" moments to switch for one to the other.

"And we’re not gay, we’re just in love with each other." LOLZ. I've got news for ya, fellas.... Seriously, though, I know what the author is trying to say about labels verses seeing an individual.

"It wouldn’t be about him dealing with Scott’s kink as some sort of a “payment” for having Scott in his life. No, it would be him doing everything he could to make Scott’s life easier, make Scott happy, because that was what Scott did for him each and every day either at work or just merely by existing..." An unusual prospective Dom! How delightful for this experienced BDSM reader!

Oh, the sexual tension is so so deliciously, delightfully slow. Both men are believably gfy. Love the psychology. Ppl and their desires/needs are complex!

What's this? I was eager, curious to know what was going on in Milo's (the boss) head, but enjoying the mystery of seeing him only from Scott's POV. Suddenly, half way in, the POV has flipped to third person, Milo subjective. I'm both curious and mildly alarmed. I hope my commitment and transportation doesn't waver. It's just a wee bit like sticking my fork in a toaster--zap!--since it's been so long in Scott's POV.
