The story begins with Caroline, a prostitute of a very low grade.She was happily married once but lost her husband and small son.She tried working at a factory but too hard and little pay, so now she sells her body & makes a better living for a 29 year old.She still lives in squalor.The story turns as she meets up with the star of the book.Her name is "Shush" or Sugar and she is a dear friend.
