Somewhat shocking to read a novel from Ben Lerner that doesn't have an arresting and thought-provoking intro. Disappointment immeasurable, day ruined. It was insightful for me to see how my enjoyment of his work hinges on ideas, and not style. It almost feels as if I have been cured of the desire to read stuff like this and I don't think I will read further.

I returned this book; what I read feels more like a parody of his style's meaninglessness.
