Never realized how messed up Japan was, prior to WW II. Attempted assassinations, successful assassinations, etc., against everyone except...the Emperor. Interesting story as to how they got to be the way they were, and what compelled them to join Germany and Italy, and then attack the U. S., even though some of their leadership knew it would be a disastrous venture.

Describes what was going on in Japan, from the Japanese perspective, in the years leading up to the attack on Pearl Harbor. The Japanese were mired in a war of conquest in China, putting a severe strain on the Japanese population, resulting in dictatorial powers, for the gov't., and major food and material shortages.
