I can't recall ever disliking a character more than the woman the main character is married to.

So far, it's a difficult read. I've never disliked a wife so much before reading this book... I'm going to push through it because it was a gift from my youngest daughter.

The wife is completely annoying. I nearly put the book down because of her. Her materialism reminded me of women in my past. The book has begun to take a turn for the better so I've stuck with it. I'm still not quite sure where it's headed, but I trust the author has designs (hopefully different than his typical pattern).
