Oddly, this chapter reminds me of the farseekers from Obernewtyn and the sorting houses of Harry Potter. I wish I could find the first book but I've found that I can read most of Hughes' sci-fi books as stand-alones. I borrowed a few of her out of her print novels from university.

This has such an optimistic ending - it definitely feels more like a utopian/hopeful ending for children. I don't think dismantling a dystopian society would be that easy and I'm interested in reading what the fallout would be like...I guess I would of gone in a different direction with the dark issues the story brought up. Maybe my mindset reflects different contemporary YA dystopian expectations..
