Francis is a immigrant from Germany in the1900s. She's 11 and has to work, against her parents wishes for money. Francis collects garbage in the street and sells it. At the end of the day she unwilling gives her share to a 10 year old to keep safe because she is a girl and is rendered incapable. This bothered me. Not only is it sexist but it is unfair to Francis I think this will become a problem as the story goes on
