I started this book years ago and lost interest. It's about a woman who survived the Holocaust and married the soldier who came to her rescue. I read her first memoir and loved it. I have to read what happens next...and this is the book!!

I know it's taking me a long time to read this book, but I honestly do read it every chance I get. This time around I have been even more emotional reading Gerda and Kurt's words about their family and the lives they left behind because of the war. I'm constantly thinking about Gerda's first memoir and how she had this great life around family and friends and now (at this point of the book) she's lost everything.
