for a guy who's always touching, rubbing, and hugging up on folks, he's never thought to ask his grandma, or father for that matter, any questions? if he had, he would've saved himself several years of useless angst. gaah, i'm disgusted.

well that was annoying. there's so much to complain about in this scene - timing, motivation, mechanics, outcomes. why is she bringing all this up just after the wake? why is he naked in bed with her if he doesn't want to have sex with her? how is he a "swiving champ" and yet afraid of sex?!

why the endless, NEEDLESS incongruity, author, why? family gathered, lovely scene set, appropriate mood set. she slips into room to join him, and as his new countess, sits on the FLOOR like his pet dog. couldn't you find a chair or even footstool for her? it's as if you can't help yourself.

convoluted pretty much sums it up. it's unclear what he wants, other than whatever he's decided in that moment. and i don't buy her, barely experienced, being brokenhearted bc no intercourse. my peeve, too: him always rubbing in her hair, i hate that. if she's spent any time fixing hwr hair, she'd hate it too.

are there no such things in this series as personal space and physical privacy? makes perfect sense that HE wants her to agree to a sexless marriage - after barging in on her taking a bath. can't any of these adults bathe or feed themselves?! jeebus.

it's one thing for very close siblings to hang out en deshabile as it were. but the long lost estranged brother just on a whim starts laying out clothes? does not a single one of these titled gentlemen in this author's world have a dang valet?!

not again: stilted i can tolerate, can imagine that to be true to the period. but then suddenly wild passion! aaaaand... back to stilted. i don't buy it. auhor, i'm trying really hard. but i don't.
