Personally I don't really mind the first person approach what I do mind is that person chuntering on about something I'm not really interested in and slows down the action. So I have skimmed a lot of stuff. I'm about half done and at last the plot starts to thicken into something readable rather than the soupy dishwater I've had to wade through to get here.
