still enjoying this very much but definitely a book to read at about a chapter a day rather than at one sitting

Fascinating insight into how the Victorians thought about England, Empire and the Boers in South Africa. Up to the annexation of the Transvaal so far and that decision was delegated to one man - talk about empowerment!
