point of view of my book is 1st person. i know this because the main character hazel tells about her life but you cant see or hear anything in the book that she cant see or hear.

there isn't really a starting sentence it does more in multiple but how it basically starts is by how her mom thinks she's depressed and how she barely survived lung cancer but her lungs still suck and that she doesn't deny that she's a little fixated on death.

I wonder what Augustus is really like because he can be mean sometimes but nice at other times.

The main character in my book, hazel, personality is shown indirectly through out the 1st chapter. Hazel seems to be generally quiet on the outside but seems to be pretty sharp. She very easily accepts the very blunt truth about things. Such as when she speaks up at the church and goes on about how eventually everyone will be dead all human innovation and technology will disappear and everyone will be forgotten.
