This stood out to me because Ronsels understands that it takes a lot to beat all that as a black man in the south. Im enjoying getting a deeper look into how things were during this time.I like how to book is told from different narratives and point of views.

A quote that stood out to me was ¨there´s a whole lot of evil in the world looks pretty on the outside¨ this stands out to me because it shows that looks can be deceiving and even though something may look good it can be bad. A character I like is Ronsel because even though things are hard due to racism hes still determined. I predict that something really bad is going to happen to Flourence´s son

I like the character Florence because she is strong minded and vigorous even when her and her family has to deal with racial issues.A question I have is how was Ronsel treated when he was drafted off to war? I´m enjoying seeing the different point of views from the white sides and the black sides
