Not the best Pendergast novel, but it's got the Sherlock bonus

Yay #1: There's a story inside the story. Yay #2: It's a forgotten Sherlock Holmes mystery. Yay #3: It's quite bloody :)

I like how the plot is linked to Arthur Conan Doyle and his Sherlock Holmes stories :)
