That quote was actually by the LinkedIn ceo.
This quote makes me wonder a couple things.1) who is it that is really saying it.
2) what do they think they are winning?
3) what do they think they are loosing?
4) why do they think that way?
5) do i really want to think like that?
I'll answer #3. They are winning the user. And if you win the user, that's very valuable, as you can build a large scale useful product that is highly monetizable. This is what Google has today, and what they are worried about losing to Facebook/Twitter/etc tomorrow.
