L is starting
I've read through the sections on academic criticism and structuralism so far. In terms of further reading, I may read some early Barthes but on the whole Barthesian structuralism doesn't entirely appeal to me.

I do find him really interesting, especially since he hops between subjects yet retains similar critical viewpoints. As a person and a thinker I think he's great, but his structuralist and semiotic work doesn't capture me in the way his poststructuralist (or poststructuralist work in general) captures me. At the moment its mainly a matter of which area I'd rather study, and poststructuralism is just more appealing.
