I don't know when the writer revealed the conflict but I remember how it happened. In the 1st chapter the main character, a teen boy named Brian, is sent to his Dad’s house for the summer by plane after his parents split. Long story short, the only pilot dies and the malfunctioning plane is in Brian's hands, going down in the middle of nowhere. When I read that I knew that the conflict was going to be his survival.

As I read my book I am curious and wondering about the themes that might continue developing and am trying to make predictions for upcoming chapters. For instance, being determined and persistent, as well as ideas of never giving up have shown up constantly throughout the book already. One of my predictions is Brian will encounter some sort of miracle, challenge, or start to lose hope.

In the book Hatchet by Gary Paulson he indirectly reveals a lot about the main character Brian. This happens when Brian took matters into his own hands being very brave and smart with little to no prior knowledge of landing a plane while it was malfunctioning and his pilot had died. This indirectly reveals that he works well under pressure and knowing this might help us learn more about what he will do in the future.
