The book opens with a story of Murdoc's, the Lead bassist for Gorillaz, childhood. when he was a boy his father put him in a cheap talent-less talent show at a pub where people entered souly to humiliate themselves in front of a crowd for a chance to win a quick buck. That, so he says, was the inspiration for Gorillaz, born out of the rejection of "all that kind of rubbish."
