ALSO i wish I didn’t know that there are 10 pages left and he doesn’t die :( the fact that 23 people were left to fend for themselves while this mf ate ice cream and didn’t even pay attention to what was going on around him - hence his internal monologue asking why the dinosaurs aren’t in their paddocks and why the children were allowed in the control room. hope he dies a gruesome death in The Lost World :D

I could honestly write a 10 page essay on how hysterically Evil™️ Hammond is throughout this entire book, this man is either senile or a supervillain or both :)) the movies really upped that ‘worried old Scottish man’ but he only ever does 1 of 4 things in the book:
1)undermine everyone else’s judgement/competence
2)get yelled at by malcolm for being ignorant
3)be safe while the rest are dying
4)evil speech

Henry Wu’s backstory is basically that one textpost ‘every time a scientist gets kidnapped to build a terrible weapon, they think about just bullshitting it, but then a tiny voice in the back of their mind says ‘honestly when’s the next time you’ll get this kind of grant funding?’ :))

the lost world opening scene!! so far enjoying this, I’ve binged the movie franchise at least 3 times now so I figured I’d give the book a go as well - might dnf this at some point bc i’m listening to the audiobook and I might not have the time/be in the mood to listen to all 14 hours of it but we’ll see
