Huttser's family is traveling to find Tsarr while being chased by the Night Hunters, part of Morgra's Balkar. The family comes to a frozen river where they have to cross in order to avoid being caught. While crossing, Fell gets distracted and wanders out onto an unsafe part of the ice. The ice breaks and he gets swept away by the undercurrent. Huttser and Palla fight, prompting Larka to run off alone.

The pack traveled to the Valley of Shadows, where Tsinga lives. Along the way, Huttser's sister, Kipcha died and Skop left to join a pack of rebels that are gathering to fight Morgra and the Balkar. I found out that Tsinga is Brassa's sister, who has the Sight herself. She taught Morga and Tsarr, another wolf with the Sight. Huttser's pack hopes that Tsigna will teach Larka. Tsinga senses something odd about Fell.

Morgra found the pack at their new den. They told Morgra they would never allow her in their pack, so Morgra put a curse on them that said they would all die one by one. The curse proved true after Khaz and Brassa's death. Palla's brother, Skop, and a pup he saved from Morgra's Balkar pack, Kar, have temporarily joined the pack. The pack figured out that Larka has the Sight and they are traveling to find Tsinga now.

Morgra arrived at the packs new den with a proposition: Let her join Huttser and Palla's pack, or she will curse them.The pack has a full moon to decide.I found out that Morgra is Palla's sister.Brassa seems to be hiding something about Morgra.Palla has given birth to two cubs; a girl, Larka, and a boy, Fell.Brassa senses something strange about them.I just left off where the pack was being chased by dogs and humans.

This novel is centered around a pack of wolves. The dragga, or head wolf, is Huttser. The drappa, or head female wolf, is Palla, and she is pregnant with Huttser's pups. The rest of the pack include Kipcha, Huttser's sister, Brassa, the old female storyteller, and Bran, the male omega, or weakest wolf in the pack. They are trying to find a den for Palla to give birth in while hiding from Morgra,a wolf with the Sight.
