I love a book that is written well enough that its flaws are plainly visible. In Morris Berman's case his materialism makes him a poor critic of spiritual philosophy and of the Church. He also is not well enough grounded in science. I still have to love the scope and vision of this work, and it holds up as a good read after more than thirty years.
