I'm very pleased that throughout the book we dip in and out of Gatsby's past, especially when on the topic of Daisy. Gatsby's lasting dedication to her continues to exist even after five years, even after she was married off to Tom. He prides all he does on the notion that it may impress her, despite the extravagance of his parties, if she didn't have the time of her life, it wasn't good enough.

Alright so I'm glad that we've gotten a little more background information on Gatsby and Daisy. I am not a huge romance person, but I find his infatuation with her endearing, that sort of drive requires unfathomable effort.
Plot-wise, we are investigating Mrs.Wilson's untimely death on the road, and its hinted that Gatsby is suspected. We hear gunshots near his property, and then we find Mr.Wilson dead.

Though the amount of time I've been allowed to read this week has been limited, quite a lot has happened here. I mean I really wasn't expecting a vehicular manslaughter plot point but here we are, I mean it really came out of nowhere, but oh well. I am curious now to see what happens from here, like if Daisy will be persecuted or perhaps Gatsby will make something up in order to cover for her.

Nick sort of feels very much like a bystander for a book where he is the protagonist. While I understand that he carries the plot with him, and the interactions that are crucial to it, he himself doesn't do all that much. He, like anyone else, is moved by Gatsby's charm, all that really matters to the story itself is what he's there to witness.
