The POV in my book is 1st person. An example of this is that the characters use words like I, or we. Each chapter, it switches the POV between 4 main characters, but it still stays in 1st person.

The first sentence in my book is, " I see your taco and raise you half a cheeseburger." This tells me that they are gambling for food. It does not tell me why they are doing it, or where they are.

I am wondering where my characters eat and sleep. The book only mentions them eating once, and sleeping once, and they were 2 separate days. I wonder this because if they don't eat or sleep, theoretically they die.

The author shows us that Eli is thoughtful by using indirect characterization. One piece of evidence is that he doesn't want to go into the empty house, because then he would be like the criminal he is cloned from. This is indirect characterization because the author gives little hints for the reader.
