The main character of this book is a real asshole.

This book pisses me off with its longwindedness. I zoned out while reading a page of the climax, flipped to the next page and realized I didn't miss a thing.

Blah blah blah...Good lord, GET ON WITH IT. The author thinks he's setting mood or atmosphere here, but this DRAGGING.

A strangely subversive twist has happened. I'm not sure if this is author intention, but there's a weird new tone & attitude towards the main character. Anyway, there are also possible flaws to the logic of what's happening. More after I finish.

...With 70 pages left, I don't have a clue where this is going to take me, and it's about time.

200+ pages in and the first legitimately interesting thing has happened. Up until now, David Moody's just been going through the motions. In 200 pages of setup, it becomes obvious that one of about 3 or 4 possible things will happen. I expected one of these things to occur as a shocker ending, a button to close on...but I underestimated the author.

These interludes of random people flipping out and killing others feel like ready-made cut scenes. They're not really working for me because it seems an obvious screenplay technique.

Apparently, the book is peppered with interludes of random people going mad. The second one is told in a hurry. Now back to the not-so-sympathetic main character.

Deep enough into the book to know I will continue, but not far enough along to give a real opinion yet. I am surprised that after a prologue of sorts, we switch to first person. Not sure if this is a main character or whether this story is told in different snippets with different tenses.
