Jeffry W. Johnston captures the reader by portraying a high schooler named Alden who follows a suspicious classmate named Greg to the park. Johnston then hooks the reader by having Alden vaguely see Greg's actions at the park, leaving the reader to question throughout the story if Amy was murdered by Greg. In each chapter, the reader is left with a cliffhanger as Alden and his best friend Charlie try to solve it.
