This part of the book was very hard to understand with all the slang that Tom was using. Other than that this first chapter was very good. This is the most important chapter of this entire book. We learned how Mari's parents and uncle got captured by ICE. Then the chapter told us what is happening to them and to Mari, Ofie and Luby. Mari, and her sisters are staying at Mr.Rossetis house where they are hiding from ICE so Mari doesn't get deported. This is a wonderful book and I can not wait to find out what happens next.

I feel hat Mr.Rosseti is coming up with a excuse to go with grandma to mexico. I also think they are in love. This chapter also explained what is going on at Maris house with mom being home. I think Mari wants to know what happened to her mom but when or if she finds out she will regret ever knowing. This is a wonderful book and I love it .

I read from page 227 to page 249. This is a important part of the book because they finally get Mari's mom back and she is as scared as ever. She was beaten and turned into a ... servant. She was saved by the leader of the coyotes wife who wanted her to get sold back to her family. This is the scariest part of the book and the most heart warming this is a great book and I love reading it.

We read from pages 213 to page. In this part of the book we found out that Mari's mother was captured by a human selling service and they are willing to sell her back for one thousand five hundred dollars and tyler gave up the money he got from Mr. rosette and gave it to maris dad to buy her. This is a great book and I look forward to reading it more.

In this part of the book I saw that Mari was starting to show affection for tyler when she was reading her valentines letter. They were also being bullied by ronnie and clayton but instead of being peaceful tyler resorted to violence and threw fist at the bullies. This is a wonderful book and I can not wait to find out what happens next.
