Oh, and she speaks about not wanting her daughter to be fat when she grows up. But her son? Not worried about him being fat, just worried about how he will feel about having a fat mother and if he will be embarrassed of her. HOLY CRAP!

She is really into traditional gender roles and puts herself into an inequal balance with her husband. Her ideal is to be dainty and tiny compared to her man and feels that she has failed him. When she complained about not being able to sit in tiny preschooler chairs? I wanted to scream at her DUDE WHY IS ANYONE EXPECTING A GROWN ADULT TO FIT IN A ELF CHAIR MADE FOR 5 YEAR OLDS. So much ridiculousness in this book.

These kind of disgust and hatred seems to usually come from folks that used to be fat and have extremely low self-esteem and respect. Fuck you lady for passing on the same judgement to other people. You are a shitty mess, with or without the fat body.

"Being morbidly obese is a disgusting, humilating, torteous existense that threatens your very life. There's nothing to be happy about" She assumes that all fat people are like her. That all fat people make the poor food choices, lie, overeat and gaining weight rapidly at all times.

"What about he daily embarrasments and humilations you suffer when you are so heavy? You can't fit into a restaurant booth. You break toilet seats. You have to go to extraordinary measures to bathe. Could anyone possible be happy with that? Some say they are, but I'm sorry. I don't believe it."

Whoa fatphobic much? "It's for these humiliating reasons that I have a hard time believing there are people out there who are happy being overweight." She goes on about how you can't keep yourself clean (!) and the ole health rhetoric.

Stopping yourself is the reason why you don't see many fat people on TV. Maybe if you didn't let everybody's opinion of your rule your life, you wouldn't use food to feel like you are in control. Being the only thing that you let yourself have for pleasure is food, no wonder you binged. Stop being angry at yourself and start being angry at the shitheads that make you feel bad about yourself.

She has the talent and knowledge but consistently let's society tell her that she isn't good enough and her only value as a woman is her beauty and if she can give her husband children. Fuck girl. Do things for yourself. Get on TV as a reporter and look fabulous and fat doing it.

Jennifer continues to blame herself for the way she is treated. Instead of holding the news industry accountable for perpetuating a standard of youth and thinness, she misses opportunities without even trying. Waiting for that magical moment when she is thin enough.

Already I am disappointed in the author. She puts it out there that her experience is everyone else's. That to be fat means you have a food addiction. Well, I am 300 pounds and I don't binge eat, go through drive-thrus and am vegetarian and eat fairly healthy. It frustrates me that she is telling people that 'hey, those fat people you see all over the place, they are addicted to food and miserable!'
