If I was in Preston’s situation before Alice went missing and was still acting weird, I would’ve tried taking to her about M.I.S.T. and about the hand she kept drawing. Even if she wasn’t going to talk him about anything if he had asked her, there could’ve been a chance that she could accidentally leak information, helping him later with trying to find her when she goes missing.

So far in the book Preston has been going around an alleyway looking for his missing friend Allie who’s been gone for 2 days, claiming it is his fault. He’s reached this facility called Mist which is what he found in Allies journal. Around that building where the door of a cellar is sits a big in goggles who Preston watched chitter his teeth and then all of the sudden stop, looking lifeless.
