So many 5 star reviews of this novel - clearly I must be missing something, but I'm finding it to be one of the least engaging things I've read all year... ah well, I shall plod on with it.

At about the halfway point this suddenly started working for me. I still have some issues with it, but at least I'm enjoying it now.
