I love the space she allows between words, lines, and stanzas. You could say “between thoughts,” but that spoils the game and tells the story differently from L. Kasischke’s telling of it.
My first comparison was to Charles Simic, but these poem, so far, create a deeper fear—and grief—in me. It’s more truthful to say that her words uncover fear and sadness that is already there.
