I started reading this book today and it's good so far. It starts off talking about the Lakers history and where they came from. It talks about the luck of players that the Lakers received that made them such a power house organization.

Lakers began to become a dominate team in the nba. Players wanted to go there and some like Kareem demanded trades to the Lakers. A mixture of trades and good drafts made the lakers a powerhouse. Kareem is the Nba all time points leader playing over 20 strong seasons in the NBA. There has never been another player like him. Magic Johnson size at the Point Guard position made him unstoppable Lakers dominated with them

It still amazes me how every time the Lakers were down they got a player. Drafting West turned the team around and propelled them back to the top. Even after his playing Career West still proved to be a good asset to the team. From Coach to General manager he stayed with the team in different ways. He helped the team get the next stars including the decision to trade to be able to sign Shaq and to draft Kobe Bryant.

Every time the Lakers looked like they were going to go through a time of being a bad team they landed a star. Whether is was through a trade or signing a free agent, they never seemed to stay down for long. Mikan was the first star they got and the player that allowed Pro basketball to flourish. He was so dominate they had to make multiple rules because of him.
