In West Virginia, a church congregation has gone missing and others are left dead. Everything points to something demonic, perhaps Satan himself. However, Blackwood seeks something a little more concrete when she and the FBI team make their way to rural USA. What they find opens old memories.

As Jessica learns a little more about what is goin on, she stumbles upon the larger plot and how a terror cell is seeking to bring down not only one man, but an entire religion. Through a form of mind control, the Church and Vatican could end up highly besmirched, while one man may finally see that he has brought about the ultimate anger from his Maker. All the while, Jessica must protect things before they go awry.

Jessica finds herself travelling to make sense of this case, though everything seems to be up in the air at present. Her time in Mexico is not as positive as she might have liked, though some would call it extremely fruitful. After some terrible goings-on, Jessica is able to get out, only to see proof that the demonic elements of the case are front and centre again, with a new death attributed to the devil. Onwards!
