Nevertheless, my patience did pay off as I am quite enjoying the unique plot of the story. If it continues this way, I guess I will finish the trilogy.

They sat for a while longer, and then parted, for it was late, and they were old and anxious.” (Page unknown)
This small excerpt reveals extent of the wisdom of the scholar. From what he says, you can tell that he himself is an old man and has lived long enough to notice the patterns of life. According to his lens, the old are much wiser than the youth and therefore they distress over the wrong doings of the young ones. While the youth have not lived long enough to possess such wisdom so they mock at what they do not understand.
This quote, I think, is very profound. I have noticed this in many people, as well as in myself. When we are young and under the care of our parents, we usually feel that we are under so much restriction and often rebel. We don't understand what our parents understand, and indeed they know what is better for us. With time we come to realize what we once did not know and thus shamefully admit, "you were right, mom."
