Notes:
(1) Crowley: "Saying he'll grow up to be a demon just because his dad became one is like saying a mouse with its tail cut off will give birth to tailless mice. No. Upbringing is everything."
- Huh, can you really nurture against destiny?
(2) Aziraphale: "Well, I'll be damned."
Crowley: "It's not too bad, when you get used to it."
- I find that applies to most things.

Final thoughts:
(1) "He couldn't see why people made such a fuss about people eating their silly old fruit anyway ... there never was an apple, in Adam's opinion, that wasn't worth the trouble you got into for eating it."
- Nice bookend. The story begins with eating stolen apples and ends with eating stolen apples.
(2) Next stop on my Neil Gaiman rereads, Neverwhere.

Notes:
(1) '"Sit down there," she told him, pointing to an armchair. It had an antimacassar on the headrest, a plumped-up pillow on the seat, and a small footstool.'
- Antimacassars need to make a comeback... if anything, so pomade can make a comeback.
(2) It's interesting to see a TV scene not in the book. I read somewhere that some were original scenes cut from the novel.

Notes:
(1) "In Tadfield, the machines ceased radiating menace. Something that had been in them was gone, quite apart from the electricity."
- I guess this sort of predicted computer viruses, which are amazingly akin to demon possession.
(2) "The wings of demons are the same as the wings of angels, although they're often better groomed."
- Guess it's the added sin of vanity.

Notes:
(1) Madame Tracy: "Oh dear ... I've never really liked the Yanks ... you can't trust people who pick up the ball all the time when they play football."
- Darn handsy Americans!
(2) '"Hey ... did any of them kids have some space alien with a face like a friendly turd in a bike basket?"
"Don't think so," said Crowley.'
- Never seen E.T. described quite that way before.

Notes:
(1) War: "I haven't been waiting for thousands of years just to fiddle around with bits of wire. It's not what you'd call dramatic. Albrecht Dürer didn't waste his time doing woodcuts of the Four Button-Pressers of the Apocalypse, I do know that."
- To be fair, button-pressers back then probably meant jabbing your finger into someone's chest. Legally, that's assault!

(1) Pepper: "It's stupid calling it a milit'ry base ... I went up there when they had that open day and they had no guns or missiles or anythin'. Just knobs and dials and brass bands playin' ... Not much milit'ry about knobs and dials."
- Knobs and dials! I imagine kids these days reading this and wondering what the knobs open, and why people can't just use a phone.

(1) "Greasy Johnson had been a fact of life ever since they'd been old enough to hit one another with a toy railway engine. They tried to get their minds around the concept of a world with a Johnson-shaped hole in it."
- Fortunate they're still kids and aren't aware of adult jokes.
(2) Pepper: "Everyone needs a Greasy Johnson."
- I wish I wasn't aware of adult jokes.

(1) "Cars, in theory, give you a terrifically fast method of traveling from place to place. Traffic jams, on the other hand, give you a terrific opportunity to stay still."
- Ironic ... immobile speed machines.
(2) "Computers are tools of the Devil? ... He had no problem believing it. Computers had to be the tools of somebody."
- Technology is making people stupider.

(1) "Death and Famine and War and Pollution continued biking toward Tadfield.
And Grievous Bodily Harm, Cruelty to Animals, Things Not Working Properly Even After You've Given Them A Good Thumping ... and Really Cool People traveled with them."
- The Four OTHER Horsemen seem more rage subsets than existential phenomena. Except Really Cool People, who's just annoying.

Notes:
(1) "[He] reached for the satchel and its bottle of Chivas Regal. There are at least two ways to turn someone into a zombie. He was going to take the easiest."
- If I saw an actual zombie, I'd mistake him for a drunk too.
(2) "Heaven and Hell are both preparing for war, and it's all going to be very messy."
- Ending the world makes a lot of sense then. Less clean-up.

Aziraphale and Crowley's interactions are the best!

Funny how that tailless mice thing is a reference to August Weismann, and yet Crowley is saying the exact opposite of what Weismann meant
