Edilio was the new kid. He was seated in the open cage of a small yellow backhoe. They watched him maneuver close to the barrier and had lowered his shovel. 'He's trying to dig his way out", Quinn said. Edilio finally got out.

Sam, along side Astrid and Quinn had spent the night at the hotel with no sign of Peter. They are 3 stories up and Sam hears something. He listened hard and described the noise as "An Engine". They ran from the room and rushed down stairs and burst through the hotel doors, around the corner back to the tennis courts. Though it ends up being Edilio Escobar.

With no adults, means more responsibility. Mary Terrafino was changing diapers for toddlers, there were 28 kids in the larger of the two rooms, watching over them was Mary and John. The Children started to cry, crying for their mothers, still concerned, and confused and started demanding. Mary and John started to try and comfort the kids feeling sick and worried for them.

Sam, Quinn and Astrid spent all night searching the Hotel for little Pete. They had checked every room, and still had no sign of him, Astrid and Sam deciding where to look next. They Found a suite with a huge balcony that looked the ocean far below, it traveled out far and described it as an "endless wall".

Everyone poured out of the school all concerned, worried or scared. As Sam walks around the traffic light would go from red to green although the cars would just sit there doing nothing. Finally Sam and Quinn get home and started yelling out "Mom. Dad?" they both rushed up stairs and see no one and they finally had the feeling and thought that only Adults had disappeared. (Exposition)

The Teacher was talking about the Civil War and after a minute she had disappeared, no poof, no light and no explosion. Sam Temple was sitting in third-period-history and thought that the teacher disappearing was a daydream. As students walk around the school they start to notice all the teachers suddenly disappearing, no poof, no light, of course not a single explosion.
