I'm close to the end.... It's getting better and better. My only complaint is that it is FAR too long. Cronin goes on and on with backstory meaningless thoughts/metaphors and goes way off the story line on too many occasions. The actual storyline only takes up about half the book.... The rest is just detailing meaningless things.... Last night I read 2 full pages about a man's thoughts about the old woman who reminded him of someone he once knew and what she used to like to do. It wasnt even a main character in the story.... His editor was crazy to keep all that stuff in it. The book must have cost a fortune to print.... Other than that, it's awesome. Very much looking forward to reading The Twelve. This is my first Cronin book....
