Azar Nafisi quotes Nabokov many times in her novel. Nabokov is the author of Lolita. I have never read Lolita but the way Azar describes the oppression in her country by those who wish to control that which can not be controlled by creating a world which is designed to keep men from being tempted by a woman who is only being herself. Who needs to be controlled? The oppressed? Or the oppressor(s)
