The structure of this book is very different from previous books in that each chapter represents both a complete story and an episode in the greater overarching story. Once again Mr. Scalzi has managed to tell his story from a different point of view, this one generally from the point of view of the diplomats of the Colonial Union (previous books concentrated on the soldiers, the special forces, and the colonists).
