My reaction is shocked, but also not to surprised that he would do something like this. Napoleon broke a rule/law upon the animals by killing some for crimes in just the blink of an eye. Why did the animals confess, did they think Napoleon would forgive/spare them? I also feel suspicious of them for blaming every mishap on the farm towards Snowball.

The animals on Manor farm our running out of food but they trick Mr. Whymper into thinking that they have plenty. Also the animals are told to assemble, there Napoleon sends his dogs to kill some fellow animals. Other animals also admit to crimes they made in the past, they were also killed right then. After watching all that, the animals join to sing Beasts of England but Napoleon had banned it forever.
