Schiff continues to illustrate how Cleopatra was not simply a flighty woman who followed what her heart and husband told her, but determined to make a difference wherever she could. Catching the eye of two powerful men, she was able to marry and bed them, ensuring progeny and solidifying power as she grew older. With sons, she also ensured that her lineage would continue and curried some favour with the Romans.
