I just noticed something.
James and Lily died on Halloween right? So when Vernon is at work seeing people 'dressed up' in cloaks at the start, why doesn't he just think, oh yeah it's Halloween?

I know we've never gone hard for Halloween in the UK and probably even less so in 1991 when this is set but we've still always acknowledged it! People have always dressed up🤷‍♀️

If anything will get me back to reading it is this.

Also I find it really funny coming back to this as I've always said I'm very much Hermione. She's as close to me as a character you will get and this year I seem to have met my Ron Weasley. He's very, very much like him snd he's one of 7 and everything. I wouldn't have even realised that had I not come back for a reread. Wow🤣

I don't get why Hermione lies about going to deal with the troll. It's a toilet, she could literally just say I was in the loo and didnt know so they came to rescue me. Why lie?

You'd think that the three headed dog would be guarded by something more than a locked door that first years can open.
Honestly this just sets up the rest of the series as to how ridiculously dangerous Hogwarts is. I'd definitely still go there though. Risk of death isn't putting me off.

They ask Harry is he has a key to get in his Gringotts vault but I'm sure they don't ask for Bellatrix's key in the Deathly Hallows. Do some need a key and others not? Is it because Potter's vault has been closed for 10 years?

How does Harry remember the flash of green light and the cold cruel laugh? He was one. I don't know about you but I can't remember anything from before I was 3.

"They stuff people's heads down the toilet first day"

Haha that's what they said about my school. Can gladly say that that never happened to me.

One of the biggest misconceptions that I see about Harry Potte is that you'd get your Hogwarts letter on your 11th birthday. That's not true.
Harry got his first one weeks before his actual birthday when Hagrid came.
Anyone born in September, like Hermione, would have still got the letter the same time as Harry but would have turn 11 months ago.
They just get it the summer in between primary and secondary school.
