lonnie jakson thought that sense he got a scholarship on basket ball he thought he would already be in the besketball team. but it wasn't that hard to make it in the team for him. he also found out that the scholarship only covered half part of the the school so he had to get a job.

Lennie Jackson got a basketball scholarship at Midwestern college from Harlem with a dream to play pro basketball one day.but the college was never what he thought it would be like because he thought the school would just be a random building but the school was really and most of the kids are white and some of them wore on TV playing collage basketball.

I think the quot means it doesn't matter what you look like on the outside if your good in the inside.I think he is saying that because just because he is black people might think he is bad but in the inside he is a good guy.
