A very good, concise history of the rise of Mormonism. Bowman has clear writing style and condenses a lot of information and modern scholarship into a few well-written pages. I am currently in the chapter on "The City of Joseph", the pinnacle of power and doctrine during the lifetime of Joseph Smith.
