Since Kyle was on patrol duty a man approaches him to discuss a situation that happened. One of the mens daughter is missing and they can't find her so they go to Kyle for questioning. However Kyle knows nothing about the situation, only that he knows how she looks. Although Kyle is dealing with his own problems so is Rose. Rose is all by herself in the woods trying to protect herself from a group of dangerous men.

Back at Wyoming Rose faces some struggles. Dangerous people surround her house and her dog and neighbors are dead so she attempts to leave. Kyle on the other hand is being accused of a murder that took place in his old home.

An older woman comes to Carols house looking for her. She needs her assistance because Carol is a doctor. However Carol isn’t able to help her. Kyle on the other hand is looking for work and there’s only one job available which is to patrol the neighborhood. Even though Kyle despises this job he continues to do it anyways.

As David and the group of men are out protecting the community David runs across a group of assassins. David has no choice but to shoot the men and does so. This leaves David in tears and Kyle his father finds David and they allow him to go home for the night. A meeting is held and the men have to decide if they should kill the man who survived or let him free. An hour goes by and they decide to kill the man.

Kyle visits Fred house and invites him to the community’s New Years party. However while he’s there Fred invites Kyle into their home and Fred lectures Kyle for not being prepared for the attack. He tells Kyle when life goes back to normal he needs to be prepared so Kyle agrees and turns back home.

After talking to the man for a while Kyle leaves. They provide him with some food and Kyles walks back to his home. However days go by and Kyle feels bored. He has no job and there’s nothing to do besides participating in the group with son. But someone offers Kyle a job and he takes it.

During the hunt Kyle decides not to kill the turkeys because he had a feeling they belonged to someone and he was right. After awhile a man came out and started shooting and ordered Kyle to drop his weapons. Kyle obeyed the mans commands and then they talked for a while. The man mentioned things about the military and who had caused the EMP attack because he used to work in the military.

In the town meeting Kyle gives a speech and answers some questions in regards to his previous journey. While him and his family are there David and Kyle sign up for a group that will teach them how to fight to protect the community. In the first meeting Kyle has to go hunting and he struggles to kill a turkey.

The whole Tait family has been staying at Carol Jeffries since Kyle got home and everyone’s still adjusting to the new living situation. However at nighttime Jennifer begins to experience some nightmares from the multiple break ins at her house. Kyle hadn’t pictured his life to be like this when he got back.

The Tait family finally reunited and things are starting to feel normal again. However many things have changed. For instance many of the men have to work in farms while women are responsible for caring for the family and their needs. But for now the family has been enjoying the presence of their dad.
