They pulled the ship to sand and filled it with a king's ransom:
gems and gold, horses and armor, the mast marking
the spot of their treasure. They hefted Hrothgar's heirlooms
whole cloth into the hold, gifting even the coastguard
a sword, gold-wrapped and gorgeous, so that later
he'd be able to flash it while drinking,
and say he'd been there when.
